Tabytha Hipwell

Decemeber 06, 2007 Australia

What Tabytha Hipwell lacks in stature she makes up for in song.

The pint-sized Telarah Public School pupil has flexed her vocal chords to outshine her peers and secure a spot in the Australian Youth Choir." This is unbelievable news," Tabytha's mother, Lyndee Cheetham, said." Singing and dancing is Tabytha's life and I think she will definitely want to pursue the performing arts as she gets older."

As part of the choir, Tabytha, 9, will travel to Hamilton once a week for rehearsals and will perform in three major concerts a year. She will also spend time at the Hunter School of Performing Arts in Newcastle.

"Tabytha has always loved to sing so this is a dream come true for her." The Australian Youth Choir has established a rich tradition in choral music education and performance throughout its 30-year history.

During this time the choir has taken part in 24 international concert tours, enabling it to develop cultural relationships with many other choral groups and ensembles including the Vienna Boys Choir, the Philadelphia Boys Choir, the New York Orchestra and the Newark Boys Chorus.

Performances before royalty and religious icons feature among the highlights of the choir's touring history and recitals have been given in some of the world's finest cathedrals and concert halls including Sacre Coeur and Notre Dame, St Peter's Bascillica Rome, Royal Albert Hall, Westminster Abbey and Carnegie Hall.

In 1990, the choir became the first Australian children's choir to perform at the distinguished Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. The choir has recorded for both radio and television.
